directions for installing gMUD to your computer (in Windows 95 or
higher):
- download gMUD, and save it to "C:\temp\" or some
other temporary directory.
- run gmud.exe by clicking the "Start" button, and selecting "Run".
- type in "c:\temp\gmud.exe" and click "Ok".
- specify a different directory to unzip to, or just click "Unzip".
- after it has extracted everything, click on "Close".
- make a shortcut on your desktop by right-clicking on your desktop,
selecting "New", then "Shortcut". the command line is "C:\gmud\gmud32.exe"
(without the quotation marks, click "Next>", name it "gMUD", and then
click "Finish".
- run gMUD by double-clicking the shortcut which you just created.
after you have gMUD running:
- click the "F" icon or do "Options" --> "Font...", and change the font
to "Lucida Console", "Courier", or another fixed-width font. i recommend
Lucida Console, personally. (it's the font that the navigation is in.) if
you don't do this, you'll notice bizarre spacing on lines that include ANSI
colour.
- go to "Options" --> "Screen Wrap..." and pick "Wrap to Screen", "Wrap
to Word".
other than that, set it to your liking.
* the executable is a self-extracting zipfile, so you don't need to have
Winzip to extract it, it will extract itself.
note: if you had access to anything that i didn't have linked before, you
probably still do. if you have any questions on this, please e-mail me.
